Hi :).. Punkbuster ..and crosshairs.

Hi all! Im IP (actually Chris). I just started playing CoD UO 2 days ago after playing MoH AA since it came out. Im a member of the MoH [MFD] clan. Im still getting the hang of the controls but Im enjoying the game and your server.
Last night when I was playing I was kicked by punkbuster for 25 mins and Im not exactly sure why. I didnt see anything come up to explain why I was and I hadnt TKed anyone that I know of. It said "Admin initiated" or something to that effect.
Also do you allow mods to crosshairs on the server? And if so can you suggest any .. I dont care for the dynamic ones in CoD and the only ones Ive been able to find just change the color of the dynamic crosshair.
Thanks for any help

One of the fundamental differences between MOHAA and CODUO are the crosshairs. This took some getting used to for me as well. In MOHAA you just needed to wave your xhair over your target and it was all good - shooting enemies was fairly easy. In UO it is more difficult. In my mind, that is a good thing. Shooting in UO is a skill that needs to be learned - but once you do it is quite satisfying. The real trick to it is to not "spray and pray" or hold down your fire button. Short bursts are the way to go with an automatic weapon, and if you are firing a rifle (or anything really) - the less movements you are making the tighter and more accurate the xhairs are. It definately takes a while to get the hang of it.
We do not allow mods such as custom xhairs on our server as it is a "pure" server. This not only keeps things like custom xhairs off the server, but other modifications that give the player an unfair advantage. I really like knowing my enemies are killing me legitimately, and via running a pure server and punkbuster - we basically have that assurance. Cheaters are very very rare in UO - certianly nothing like in MOHAA where we had to spend hours a night policing hackers and such.
As for being kicked by a member I do not know why. Perhaps the person who did this to you could shed light on the reasons? Anyone?

I think I know why now .. someone who was playing last night emailed me and said I was asked to change my name. I never noticed .. I dont usually follow the in game chat unless it catches my eye and I mustve missed it.
I can change it if its not allowed on the server but I would really like to keep it. Its the one Ive been using since Quake. If I need to re-register under another name just let me know and I can do that also.
As for the crosshairs .. thanks for the info. I did a little better last night with them because I tried to stay away from MGs. I seem to do better with the rifles and semis so I think Ill stay that route.
Thanks again.

Hey JimmyT! Haven't seen you in the game since I've been on the server...come kill me soon, will ya?
Anyway, IP is a bud of mine from MFD and I told him his name probably caught the eye of one of the JHF as unacceptable. I told him to change it to BulletMagnet or FullOfHoles or something more appropriate...
Thanks also for the info on the crosshairs. We won't bother searching for modded ones if you all don't allow them.
Hope to see you on the battlefield soon.

Don't worry havoc - I'll be in there hunting you any day now!
Not sure about IP's name being a problem but like I said - whoever kicked him will have to shed light on the situation.
One thing I forgot to point out about the crossahairs is that your position (standing, crouching, prone) changes how accurate your shot is as well. Of course, there is nothing more I like that someone shooting at me then going prone so I have a static target to shoot!

I'll be waiting...with my tail between my legs.
It was definitely his name. LabRat asked him to change it but IP didn't apparently see the chat message (because I tried to get his attention, too). I'll make some further suggestions for appropriate names...[MFD]DeadManWalking, [MFD]TankFodder, [MFD]SwissCheese, you get the dirft.
CYA soon.

LOL .. you wouldnt believe how many times Ive been asked that. I had heard it before but actually started using it when a coworker of mine used it. I worked 3rd shift and my boss came in the next morning and we hadnt got done what all he wanted us to do so he was a rant. My coworker was making up excuses and explaining all the reasons why we didnt get finished and while he was talking he added ".. and IPFreely called in sick .." and it took my boss about 5 minutes to catch what he said. I thought it was funny (my boss didnt) and kept the name.
