Is there any way to increase the partition size of my C drive.  My D drive has a lot of capacity, but the C drive is small.  Can I do this without messing up or losing any info on my 'puter?  Thanks...

Word on the street is that you are likely better off reformatting the drive rather than messing with an existing partition.  There are 3rd party utilities but most places I looked where this question was asked suggested a reformat.  If you do try to tweak the current partition, it would seem prudent to back stuff up first.  Backing up is good, right ob? I think you're outta luck on increasing without a reformat, but I could be wrong. Perhaps you can reverse the drive letters? I dunno. Just back up before you do anyting.

ive used partition magic and it does a great job managing partitions.  it's not free, but its out there if you look for it.  and yes back things up first just in case.

A periodic backup of the important stuff is a very good idea.  Trust me.  You don't realize the importance of it till you lose everything.

Harddrive said "Must....................... slow ......................... down ........................... too ............................... much ...................... spinning"

And that was that for that harddrive.

wow, was it the stock hdd on your pc?  how old?

I've often considered a mirrored setup (forget which raid # that is) and you make me re-consider it again. I got tons of family pics on one of mine. I guess I need to get busy burning some cds eh.

I recently got a new laptop with a DVD writer. I can back up as muck as 4 gig at a time. I do a monthly back up so 4 gig is great. However I don’t always do my pics or music unless I have added to it. But it sure saves me a lot of headaches.

Well OB when Scotty warns you that the Dilithium Crystal is about to blow you either shut her down and replace it or call Kirk. In your case I think the first option is what you might need to do. There are guys who can open your hard drive and extract data from it, but that used to be pretty expensive. Don’t know about know.

Then again maybe it wasn’t the dilitihium crystal and your computer was just singing “DAISY” like HAL used to sing until Dave shut him down.
