I don't understand exactly what is going on, but recently (past three days) have been annoying to me.
Each time I go to play CoD4 multi, it gives me a 'key code in use, try later' message.
Nobody else knows my Key Code, so this is really making me concerned.

I have seen a few things on Google about this....

Something about being on a server, being disconnected, then the master servers still thinking you are online.... Here is what I have found, but have no idea if any of this works or not....

1. start a dedicated online server, join and quit
2. reboot your router/modem or whatever
3. updating your Punk Buster by clicking here http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
4. reinstall game (though I don't hold much value in this)
5. take it to the store you bought it from and say the key does not work for multiplayer, see if they will exchange it!

I'll try the first three....
Next two are a no go. I accidentally dropped the disc, didn't know where it went, then stepped on it. -.-

that came up a while ago, whenever the game crashed on me....did your game crash, or did you not close the game properly before this happened? and did it work in-between the times you got this message?  sometimes just waiting 20 mins or so will make it work again?

Game crash? No. My wireless was interrupted when the phone rang for some reason, and I had to ctrl+atl+del to close it.
It usually happens when I first try to play the game each day, or usually after I've been off line for a period of time after playing.
And I've waited three hours before and it does it still... So I dunno. The making a server, playing for a few minutes, then leaving the room worked, though.

I remember back in the day of getting booted from the wireless when the phone rang, those were the days!
