Audio recording software

Does anyone know a shareware audio recording software that lets you record for a few minutes at a time? All of the ones I've looked at halt recording after a minute. You can only record longer if you buy the full version

I know of a ton, but they are all on the Mac. Sorry.
What is your recording source?

Thanks Smoke and JT! That gives me a good heads up. Audacity was the first hit with Google, but was wary of malware.
As for the Mac software, I'll get back to you JT. Check that, I won't, my parents PC won't like it.
The input source is going to be a mic. My Mom wants to record some lullabys for my nieces that her grandmother sang to her as a child. The one minute cap time the for the software I found on cnet wouldn't meet her needs.

just make sure you get it from the original page, and not some "joe's software house" or something like that.

That goes without saying. I really don't want to be removing a virus of tons of spyware from my parents computer. I have enough going on.

You can do it straight through ventrilo if you wanted. There is a record option on there.

Thought about Vent. But this is for my parents computer, and want something with a little better sound quality than Vent. The recording there tends to pick up a lot of background noise, and that is with the sensitivity of the mic turned down.
