I think I have read that you CAN have two PCI-e cards in your system.  You can also have them SLI (which would mean 1 monitor out) or NOT SLI which you can then have each card having monitors our (i.e. if each card and dual video out, then you could have 4 monitors).

I guess this is the first thing to clarify, can you actually have 2 PCI-e cards installed and have 4 monitors running?

Second, do each of the PCI-e cards have to be the same?  To SLI, I think yes, but to have 4 monitors, I am not sure.

This is what I currently have:
              BFG Tech BFGEGTX260MC896OCXE GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express

This is what I looking to get:  (I am looking at this because of price - I would love to get another GTX 260, but cannot afford it)
              BFG Tech BFGE94512GTE GeForce 9400 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16

One thing else I have read is that the Drivers could cause conflict.  I have looked on Nvidia's site and seen that with the latest driver, both the GeForce GTX 260 and GeForce 9400 GT utilize the exact same driver.

ANY input would be great.  I am looking to run 3-4 monitors and need to figure out a solution.  The motherboard I have has 3 PCI-e 2.0 x16 slots as well as 2 PCI.
XFX MB-N780-ISH9 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Intel Motherboard

Thanks in advance for any info you post.

Heya OBMer,

I am running dual 9600 gto's in sli configuration.  Each card has 2 digital outs for monitors.  I can actually run 4 monitors off of the 2 cards.  I am currently using one of the cards gpu strictly for the physics aspects of the games I play.  As long as the program you are using can run different monitors you should have no problem.  Make sure you download the newest drivers ( Tongue) from nvidia.  If you want one of the cards to be for physics you will need to make sure you check the box in the nvidia control panel for physics.  I have done extensive research on sli to make sure it was what I wanted.  Try this link for more info:  http://www.slizone.com/page/home.html

Not for life, just when a driver issue comes up.  It's like the Ghoti's photo in Remagen that led to a whole new sport.

Do you watch "House"?.   If so, can you ever look at the prince in the same way?

Don't watch House that often.  Few shows on network TV have interested me much in the last several years.  As for George from Blackadder, he skews my view of House.  I just crack up when I see him acting like a self-obsessed egomaniac.  Instead I see him like this.
