Do you Fe-el like I do!

« on: March 11, 2010, 07:49:18 AM »

got a little extra money at work recently and i've been going back and forth on what to spend some of it on.  just bit the bullet monday and purchased these:

I've always had some temperature issues with my 8800GT, and I think it has led to many crashes recently with BC2, so i'm trying out a fanless vga cooler.  So far it's promising, but i really haven't put it to the test, yet.
ARCTIC COOLING Accelero S1 Rev.2 VGA Cooler

I've got quite a collection of mp3's (30,000+)and, more recently, movies (a few hundred) on my computer.  about 1 1/2 years ago, the hard drive with all my mp3's died and i almost crapped my pants, but luckily i was able to salvage about 95% of them.  I decided that I was going to get 2 hard drives and set them up in RAID 1 (one drive is a mirror copy of the other) so if a drive fails, there's another duplicate drive.  Then I went further and bought this
D-Link DNS-321 Diskless System 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure
This thing is pretty cool.  It has some sort of a linux server built in.  I can run an ftp server from it, to access my files from anywhere.  It has media streaming, for media streaming devices, but it also can just be used as a network drive.  The only moderate reviews on newegg are some people complaining about upload speed, but, in the little bit that i've used it, it seems to copy just fine for me.  It comes with automatic backup software (not needed in win7)
for the price, so far, i'm impressed.

Very nice enclosure/server. I'm wondering - can you hear the spinning of the drives once they are in the enclosure?
