Nvidia Drivers Beware!

196.75 Alert!

If you have an NVidia card, and you constantly update drivers as I do.. beware of the 196.75 drivers.  Beware means don't use at all.  For Linux and Windows there is a bug in these drivers that causes the fan for the gpu to not work at all, frying the vid card.  (I hear them things can get warm)

from Nvidia:

We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers do not download this driver. Instead, please stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our website and we also are asking our partners and others to remove temporarily this 196.75 WHQL driver as well.

If this has happened to you, just take it to BestBuy, I hear they do wonders to video card problems

Looks like I need to rollback my driver on my rig   Not high on my list but definitely cheaper than a new video card.

I also heard that WidowMaker had his hands in the driver, but his comments were something about fan speed and trying to remove fog....
