I am not entirely satisfied with his assertion that kinematic data is unavailable for African Hirundo species.  While Im quite agreeable that more data would be available for North American and European species... there has to be SOME data from Africa.    Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Tongue

Now, now...I thought I had addressed this once on the old board. Lest you forget:

In regards to the air speed of an unlaiden swallow:

it all depends on the thickness and consistency of the barium bolus as it passes the epiglottis on into the esophagus. The more "unlaiden" the swallow, the chances are higher of the swallow passing between the vocal folds in to the trachea...which is BAD. This will cause  Undecided followed by Lips Sealed and finally Tongue .

Just don't be standing in front when the tongue comes out...spewing is likely.

Bolus remains one of my favorite words of all time.  No, I do not know why.

Well, then, you've missed your calling: you belong in health care. Always talking about a bolus of this, a bolus of that...the word is everywhere!

Are we talking speed or velocity..... me and my vectors are confused  Tongue

While they indicated it was a velocity, the value given (11m/s or 24 miles/hr) was not in any specific direction.  You all know what that means!   Shocked
